Featured Candidate - James Stanton

James M. Stanton is the presiding judge of the 134th Judicial District Court in Dallas County, Texas. His judicial philosophy is rooted in his belief that judges should work hard to fairly and impartially administer justice. This means quick hearings, prompt rulings, and predictable results consistent with the law. Judge Stanton believes in the right to trial by jury which insures that all individuals and companies are treated equally in his courtroom. At age 33, he is currently the youngest sitting district judge in Texas.

Judge Stanton is a first-generation college graduate who worked his way through school throwing newspapers, washing dishes, and delivering pizzas. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs magna cum laude with high distinction. After college he attended Baylor Law School where he was the Senior Executive Editor of the Baylor Law Review and represented Baylor at national advocacy competitions.

Judge Stanton is married to Britta Erin Stanton, a trial lawyer at Lynn, Tillotson, Pinker & Cox, L.L.P., and they have three children: Alexandra, Luke, and Eric. The Stantons are active members of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Dallas.
