Featured Candidate - Sandra Ellis

Judge Ellis was elected Justice of the Peace in 2002 and reelected in 2006.  She has served as the JP for Precinct 3 for over 7 years.  Judge Ellis presides over 4,000 eviction cases each year as well as thousands of criminal and civil cases assigned to her Court.  During her tenure revenues have climbed steadily with revenue increasing by $800,000 in just the last fiscal year.

Judge Ellis grew up in Dallas.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree from UTA and a Masters degree from Abilene Christian.  She has a license in Real Estate and a certification in Mediation.

Her career with Dallas County began when she interned with the Juvenile Department.  She became the District Attorney’s Office first paralegal and worked her way up to become the Court Administrator for all of the Dallas County Criminal District Judges.  During the years immediately preceding her election as JP she managed a successful law firm.   Judge Ellis has 35 years of experience in the legal profession which has allowed her to become familiar with all areas of the jurisprudence system.

Sandra is married to Tom Ellis, a CPA, has two daughters and three grandchildren.  Judge Ellis is a member of several Dallas area Republic Clubs and has served on the Board of the Richardson Republic Club for eight years.  She is an active Rotarian and participates in many other philanthropic causes.
