Featured Candidate - Gerry Cooper

Judge Gerry Cooper is a lifelong resident of the City of Garland and a 1971 graduate of Garland High  School.  He  recived 2 degrees from Southern Methodist University, a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Cox School of Business and his Juris Doctor degree from the SMU Dedman School of Law.  He served as Magister of Phi Delta Phi Chapter at SMU in his third year of law school at SMU.
 
Judge Cooper worked at the law firm of Kelsoe, Anderson, Khoury & Clark after graduating from law school.  In 1998, he opened  his own law firm on Main Street in downtown Garland.  In 2002, he was elected to the office of Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, Place 1, where he is now serving in his eighth year.
 
Over the past 35 years, he has served as President/Chairman of numerous organizations including:  Garland Association of Realtors, Garland Rotary Club, Garland Family YMCA, and the First Christian Church of Garland.
 
He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association, the Dallas County Bar Association and the Garland Bar Association.
 
Judge Cooper and his wife Brenda will celebrate ther 36th wedding anniversary in May of 2010.  They have three daugters, Kate, Cara, and Kristin and 2 sons in law in J. T. Walker and Justin Erspamer.  They also have one  granddaughter and one grandson (they are perfect).
