Featured Candidate - Jennifer Jackson
Jennifer Jackson is a seventh generation Texan. She was born and raised in Dallas where she attended public schools. After graduating from Lake Highlands High School, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from The University of Texas at Austin. Jennifer earned her law degree from Southern Methodist University Law School, where she graduated cum laude. During law school, she was selected as an intern for District Judge Cliff Strickland of Criminal District Court No. 2 in Dallas County, and learned first hand the importance of criminal legal proceedings in the courtroom. More importantly, she developed a passion for the criminal justice system.
After graduating from law school, Jennifer worked at the international law firm of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz & Edelman LLP where she specialized in complex defense litigation. Because of her passion for the criminal justice system, she joined the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant DA, where she had one of the highest conviction rates. She prosecuted a wide variety of cases including DWIs, assaults, thefts, drug cases, evading, prostitution, family violence and indecent exposure cases. After leaving the District Attorney’s office, she started her own private practice, The Jackson Law Firm, which handles criminal cases in both misdemeanor and felony courts.
Jennifer enjoyed her time as a prosecutor, serving and protecting the citizens of Dallas County. As a native of Dallas, she has been involved in the community and has recently started a non-profit organization, The Gale Gentry Foundation, in honor of her deceased aunt, to promote cancer research. After years of running her own law firm, she is passionate about getting back to serving the citizens of Dallas County, and she would be extremely honored to serve as the Judge of County Criminal Court of Appeals No. 2.
