Featured Candidate - Russell Roden

Russell Roden served as Judge of Dallas County Court at Law No. 1 for almost five years, from April 1, 2002 through December 31, 2006.

While on the bench, Russell Roden worked hard to appropriately apply the law in an impartial manner.  He was one of the highest-rated judges in each of the Dallas Bar Association’s Judicial Evaluation Polls. In the last poll in which he was rated, Mr. Roden received a 93% approval rating in the category of “knowledge of the law,” the highest of any of the 18 state civil district and county court-at-law judges. He also rated among the highest of all judges with a 95% approval rating in the category of “hard-working” and a 93% rating in the category of “impartiality”. The overall approval rating of 91% was the second-highest numerical rating of the 18 civil district and county court at law judges. In addition to the DBA Judicial Evaluation Poll, Mr. Roden was one of only two sitting judges who won both the 2006 DBA Election Preference Poll and the 2006 Dallas Trial Lawyer Association’s Election Preference Poll. The results of the preference polls evidence that attorneys on both sides of the bar felt they received “fair and impartial” treatment in his court.

Mr. Roden is asking for your support to return him to the position of Judge, Dallas County Court at Law No. 1. During the past three years, D'Metria Benson has presided over Dallas County Court at Law No. 1. In the most recent Dallas Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Poll, Ms. Benson received the lowest "overall performance" approval rating of any sitting judge in Dallas County -- a mere 17%. Dallas County deserves better from its judiciary. Please help return Russell Roden as Judge, Dallas County Court at Law No. 1.
